Tyne O’Connell’s Rom Com Novels

Author Tyne O’Connell is one of a prominent group of young British female novelists who emerged in the mid 1990’s when the chick lit genre hit the publishing world.

Female readers from their mid teens through to their forties were desperate for rom com novels that spoke to them about their own lives. Too many books being marketed to this group at the time were either ‘too worthy’ in the popular ‘literary’ style or ‘too slushy’ in the Mills and Boon line that had been so incredibly popular.

British Chick Lit Novels

Driven by brilliant editors such as Geraldine Cooke at Headline Review and with a host of talented authors such as Helen Fielding, Madeline Wickham (aka Sophie Kinsella), Marion Keyes, Jane Green, Jill Mansell et al, a whole wonderful and life affirming literary genre was born – British Chick Lit.

Author, Tyne O’Connell, was one of the first to hit the bestseller list when the first of her rom com novels Sex, Lies & Litigation was published in 1996 – the same year as Bridget Jones’s Diary.
